This 4 week Birth Preparation program is ideal for women in their third trimester who are interested in delving deeper into the practice of yoga to physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually prepare for the sacred process of birth - and the transition into motherhood.
Classes are small and intimate - allowing a more personal experience for you as you journey towards birth.
The classes include prenatal yoga, meditation and breathing techniques and will further explore mantras, chakras, affirmations, optimal foetal positioning, vocalising in labour, pelvic floor awareness, how the birthing body works and effects of stress, positions to assist baby in their rotation and journey through the pelvis, first stage Active Birth positions, second stage birthing positions - and a chance to connect with other women approaching their birthing.
You will learn how to use a birth ball and a rebozo to help stay comfortable during labour.
When women gather together with other women during the prenatal period, their pregnancies are healthier, more likely to go to full term and the sense of connection to other women at this time of transformation can help ease their own transformation into motherhood.
The villages, communities and rituals that our ancestors experienced are no longer available to many of us. Much of the wisdom that would have been passed down through the generations is lost. Technology may have advanced over the years, but loosing the opportunity to connect with other women who share the same challenges can often leave us feeling anxious and unsure of the journey ahead.
Being open, flexible and active in labour means you can follow your own intuition and guidance, rather than your birth being managed by others. Studies show that being active in birth leads to a faster, less painful and safer experience for both mother and baby.
JOYMAMMA Yoga for Birth is a safe and nurturing place to connect and share with others. It provides timeout for busy women to focus on this new little soul growing within.
Experts in many fields are now starting to understand the biological, psychological and sociological impact of our time in the womb and the importance of self care during this life changing time.
