grace, born at buderim hospital on 28 nov 2016
Baby Grace was born calmly and peacefully in water on Monday evening at 7.11 pm (28.11.2016). Grace’s birth was my second hypnobirth and water bath delivery.
I was very anxious about labour and birth with my first baby girl, Lily but I felt very at ease after meeting Carrie because she was a wonderful hypnobirthing instructor. My husband was on-board with the hypnobirthing philosophy straight away and he really encouraged me throughout my pregnancy and birthing journey.
Carrie’s guidance was instrumental in allowing me to birth Lily naturally, without any intervention despite a long, challenging labour with a posterior baby.
My second birth, was much shorter, easier and in my midwife’s words “a textbook perfect labour and birth”. At 34 weeks, my husband, Matt and I met with Carrie again for a private refresher hypnobirthing session and it was the best decision we made in my birthing journey. Carrie was able to show Matt some great techniques to help reduce the pressure on my lower back, hips and pelvis during surges which helped my labour immensely. Carrie discussed birthing positions and the importance of using different positions during labour and birth to help progress my baby through the birth canal.
Throughout my labour, I used active birth positions and focused on helping my body to birth my baby. I laboured out of the bath and got in right at the end to birth my baby. I felt calm, in control and trusted my body completely.
My husband was the most amazing birthing partner and without his love, encouragement and support my birth would not have been so easy. Special thanks also to Carrie for supporting and educating Matt and I to birth our babies the way we felt was most natural and perfect for us.
