On Sunday 24th July 11.13 am our baby boy 'Otto' swam calmly into our arms. He was well and truly a 'hypnobirth' baby, didn't even cry as he entered the world! Super chill!
My birth experience was exactly how I had visualised it to be, and more! I laboured at home for 5 hours and was coping really well. I slept for some of it, whilst listening to my relaxation tracks and had Cam reading a few scripts while I dozed in and out. I tried various positions that came naturally to me after practising for all those weeks, which certainly came in handy. After a few hours, my midwife arrived to check in and see how I was doing, and was quite surprised at how calm and relaxed I was, as I was 8cm dilated! She gave Cam the nod to head into hospital, but apparently had said she would be quite happy for us to have a homebirth if we wanted! haha. So Cam gathered all the things and kept cool and calm as we headed off into the car to the hospital. I don't remember the car ride or walking into the hospital much, as I had my headphones in, eye mask on and kept my essential oil bottle to my nose. As soon as we arrived I almost jumped into the bath and let my body do the rest. I remember the lull period you mentioned about the transition before the birthing phase begun and it was so lovely, I couldn't stop smiling as it's exactly how you said it would be. I used my birth breathing and gently breathed the baby down. I trusted my body, my baby and myself. Only 2 hours labouring in the hospital! I also had a physiological stage 3 of my placenta which was very cool. I can confidently say that I had gone deep into my birthing body to have this out of body experience and felt that it was a true hypnobirth. My midwife commented on my breathing and how in control I was and another assistant commented on the birth being a 'unicorn birth' which I didn't quite understand at first, but they mentioned that it was a quick, easy, comfortable and beautifully calm birth which they don't always see in the hospital setting. I am quite proud to be able to share this story with everyone now, and so proud of myself. I know that both Cam and I did the work to be able for this birth to unfold the way it did, but it is thanks to you and your teachings that gave me the tools and knowledge to have my dream birth. I am so grateful to have come across you and your beautiful course and will forever recommend that EVERYONE who is pregnant, have a think about Hypnobirthing and your course. Cam was also blown away at everything, and how well we all did. He is stoked that we did the course with you and is happy to give you a glowing review. You really have changed our thoughts around birth, but also in our everyday lives and how we can apply some of the relaxation tools. I am still using the rainbow relaxation during breastfeeding or throughout the day when I feel like I need to get back into my body and out of my head. Kind regards, Zinta and Cam |
