Birth Stories — Foundational Archive
Birth is deeply personal, unpredictable and unique
The stories shared here come from women and families I supported through pregnancy and birth during earlier years of Joymamma, when my work involved direct birth education, HypnoBirthing and doula support. Each story reflects one family’s journey within their own circumstances and choices. No two births are the same, and these reflections are offered with respect for the complexity of birth and the many paths it may take.
Not every experience shared within the Joymamma community became a full written birth story. Many stories were never formally documented in long-form. Additional reflections are gathered within Community Reflections, where experiences that were never written as full birth stories are also honoured.
This archive exists as part of the professional lineage that informs my work today. Years of accompanying women and their partners through birth profoundly shaped my understanding of physiology, nervous system regulation, informed choice and the role of environment, language and support during labour.
While Joymamma has evolved to focus primarily on training and mentoring prenatal yoga teachers, this body of lived experience continues to inform how I teach, mentor and prepare others to work responsibly in the perinatal space.
These stories are preserved here as a reflection of the journey that shaped the foundations of Joymamma.
