I held off being induced until I was getting uncomfortable with it not happening naturally. Finding the line between what I was comfortable with and what I was wanting to achieve was difficult. I was 41 + 6.
We went in in the morning, I agreed to have the gel to get labour progressing, I was checked again after 6 hrs and I really pushed hard for the doctor to give my body time, as he was wanting to release the membranes, he gave me a second dose of gel to continue to soften the cervix. At 7.30 pm surges started getting more consistent and stronger. Membranes released by themselves at 8.30 pm and we had her in our arms at 11.11 pm, the same day April 1st. No other intervention or other drugs used. Everything I learnt in my hypnobirthing course and all the home study was amazing and it got me through it easily. I just listened to my body and did want it asked. This birth was so different to my first it was so empowering. My partner supported me the whole way, he surprisingly watched her crown and he caught her on the way out with help from the midwife, he was so amazed watching it unfold. The midwives here in the Gympie hospital were amazed at how beautiful and easy the birth was and wanted to know more about hypnobirthing. So so thankful even though it wasn't exactly how I envisioned her birth to start. This time compared to last birth there was no tearing, no haemorrhaging. It was amazing. Thank you Carrie for everything you taught us, it was incredible. Amazing birth. Cara x |
