Hi Carrie
Just wanted to let you know that our newest little man finally made his grand entrance into the world! Hudson Thomas Jeffs was born at 1:54 am October 5th, weighing 6lb 8oz. I woke around 11:45 pm to go to the toilet, I then had my first contraction. I wasn't going to wake my husband until I had a few more though. By the time I hopped back into bed I had another and straight after my waters broke (slowly leaked should I say). From then the contractions came back to back and within 20 mins we were up to the hospital. Fully dilated already I was up on the bed ready for Bub to make his way out. After lots of breathing Bub down they realised he was stuck and was becoming very distressed so the midwife gave me a little cut and after a couple more contractions he came out in one push. Everything happened so quick hubby didn't get a chance to even set up my oils, music, visualisation tools or anything but the one thing I thought through every contraction was you saying "it's only 1 minute, 5 deep breaths" I think I even said it out loud sometimes haha. It's so funny, you have this idea of what your labour will be like (you think I would know better 2nd time around haha). I assumed it would be long, taking hours and hours and that I would have time to potter around the house, get my oils set up, light candles and slowly ease into my birth affirmations. Turns out I was lucky to get a 5 min shower in! Going into labour trying for a VBAC naturally some of my biggest concerns were not wanting to tear and the thought of pooping myself terrified me! But it turns out both happened and the funny thing is I didn't even care in the slightest. I didn't feel the tear and nurses were so amazing cleaning up after me I didn't even realise what was going on. I was so focused on what my body was doing that everything else was so far from my mind! The second you hold your baby you don't care what has happened to you because at the end of the day your Bub wouldn't be there if those things didn't happen! What a difference between this labour and my first. Nate's labour was 17 hrs and ended in an emergency caesarean due to brow presentation. This labour was only 2 HOURS! (Wow I'm still in shock). Makes the world of difference when Bub is in a good position. Thank you again for your support, your yoga classes were like a breath of fresh air and I always felt so calm and relaxed after. Hudson is a dream baby, so relaxed and I put a lot of it down to taking time out for myself! Doing meditation and yoga helped slow me down and I believe it had such a positive affect on him while he was in my tummy. Thank you so much again, what you do for us pregnant mummas is amazing xx Kind regards, Jemma |
