I moved through my surges at home until 7 pm. When we got to SCUH I had my one and only vaginal exam I was 3 cm. Ron and I continued using our hypnobirthing techniques for another 2 hours then I got into the bath.
I had a nice break (thank goodness) then the surges came back stronger and I felt a massive change, I started getting a bit 'delusional' and said some pretty weird things which Ron enjoys reminiscing over. I'd like to report I was composed and calm however, I howled like a werewolf on a full moon, that's my recollection at least. But Ron says I used my birth breath on every surge (after a howl or two ) I kept saying "I can do this" and Ron would reply "your body was made for this". He really was my rock through everything, without him I would have been lost. After a few hours and lots of bearing down motions and breathing in the bath, Baby Kip Johan Wallin was brought straight to my chest at 12:11 am on 16 January 2019, all 4 kg and 57 cm of his perfect vernix coated body and we stayed skin to skin for a good couple of hours. Our midwife, Lauren, from MGP came in on her day off and worked with us so incredibly well, honouring every preference we spoke about and giving me all the right support and compassion. I birthed Kip in the water fully natural without the use of any interventions, passed my placenta naturally too. It couldn't have been any closer to how we hoped. Thank you for all your support and education, people say it's something you can't prepare for, but I really think that's rubbish, we were prepared the best we could be thanks to Joymamma. Hannah |
Chappie the dog was my best buddy in the early stages :) I had a nice break (thank goodness) then the surges came back stronger and I felt a massive change.
