Hi Carrie
Thank you Carrie for your amazing classes and guidance. While the birth of our beautiful Harrison wasn't exactly "to plan", we a achieved a vaginal birth which was our main goal. Hypnobirthing totally came into play and made that happen. I went in for a scan on our due date to discover there wasn't much fluid around bub and they couldn't detect any breathing in/out of fluid by bub either. So we decided to induce as I was also 40 weeks that day. They had wanted to induce that day anyway due to my age and having GD but we wanted to have a scan first to see if it was necessary. Membranes were released, and the fluid was green, alas no water birth for us. But we remained calm. Surges started however it was slow going so we decided to use some syntocinon. I'm not sure exactly how much we managed to get away with, but it was only a very small dose and only for a few hours to get it all going. Hypnobirthing totally helped get through the early and active labour. I used a little oxygen and gas for a while but found quite disruptive. Joe helping me with surge breathing was much more effective and I gave away with the oxygen/gas. Bubs shoulder was stuck so we used robozo to free him. Then he went posterior so we had to "spin the baby". Last 4 hours were hectic, however somehow I found the strength to birth him, full primal and all. No tearing!!! Shock, amazement, joy!! It was a long 21 hours. Placenta came out fine but was starting to show the beginning stages of deterioration. We had made the right choice to induce. We couldn't be happier. He is an angel . The midwives were very respectful and amazing! Thank you so much for everything. I doubt we would have achieved a vaginal birth without your support and classes. April xx |
