RPYT training brought to you by Carrie Jeff, Owner and Creator of Joymamma

Carrie Jeff is a Birth Doula, HypnoBirthing Australian Steering Committee Member, Active Birth Educator, Experienced Yoga Teacher (EYT-200, RYT-500), Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher (RPYT) and Continuing Educator Provider (YACEP) with Yoga Alliance. Carrie began training Prenatal Yoga Teachers in 2018 working with the International Yoga Teachers Association. Created in 2012, Joymamma is a Registered Prenatal Yoga School (RPYS) with Yoga Alliance.

“I’ve had the privilege of supporting thousands of women on their journey to motherhood and I’ve been fortunate enough to witness some of the most transformative moments of their lives - attending births and sharing in those incredible experiences.

When I started teaching, I juggled classes around my own children’s busy schedules. With my husband often away for work, creating my own timetable wasn’t just convenient - it gave me the freedom to build a fulfilling part-time career while still being present for my family. Those early years taught me the art of balancing work, family and life - and inspired me to design programs that are both flexible and meaningful for other women navigating the joys and challenges of motherhood.”

Picture
Back in 2012, I created my Yoga for Birth program for just one woman who would come to my home (you can read her birth story here >>). After getting my three kids off to school, I would clear away the dining table and lay down yoga mats. Not long after, a few more women joined, I invested in some props and we moved to the garage. That’s when my little teaching venture began to evolve into a business. Looking back, all that early home teaching must have planted some seeds - my eldest daughter became a yoga teacher at just 15!

Over the years, I’ve seen first-hand how vital yoga is for every pregnant woman, to help support their bodies, calm their minds and prepare for labour. As a birth doula, I’ve watched countless women use all they’ve learned on the mat to navigate childbirth with strength and resilience.

Since then, I’ve opened two yoga studios and built a thriving business that is both professionally fulfilling and personally rewarding. One of the greatest joys has been witnessing the beautiful friendships that continue to blossom long after babies are born.

Now, the time has come to share everything I’ve learned - from the women who have taught me so much, from the thousands of classes I’ve led and from the births I’ve been privileged to attend - with you, in this in-depth Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training.

My personal commitment to you, should you choose to join me, is that I will support and guide you to deepen your knowledge, build confidence and enhance your unique teaching style - while also nurturing your personal growth and development as a Prenatal Yoga teacher."

With love, Carrie xx

Joymamma's PYTT was incredible. I am as bold to say it is the best YTT I have done. Carrie was professional and welcoming; each session felt like coming home. The space felt safe to give ideas and opinions and to ask questions without feeling judged. The content that was covered was so juicy and insightful! I learnt so many creative ways to adjust asana and the importance of connection to baby for an expecting mother. Carrie infused the koshas, breath work, meditation and asana into the perfect YTT.

Prior to Carrie's YTT I felt very unsure about teaching yoga to pregnant women. There have been several times when pregnant women had joined my regular classes and I felt overwhelmed with my lack of knowledge for how they could practise yoga safely.

Since Joymamma's training I feel completely confident and assured to teach pregnancy yoga and to modify poses in order to best suit pregnant students. The manual is my prenatal/postnatal bible. It is so full of information and tips. It has already been a huge reference source for me. The pictures help illustrate how a pose can be done or modified. And it encompasses so much more than asana: guided meditations, information about pregnancy and potential injury/pains to be aware of, yoga philosophy and so so so much more. Other trainings I have completed lacked material, but this manual is full of useful information. Every thing I have thought to improve on (I grabbed the book to check) is already in the manual! I loved the application. The schedule of training was great. After learning something new, we were given the opportunity to apply it straight away. Although that can sometimes invoke nervousness I think the best way to get better at something is doing it.

I'm normally pretty good at offering improvements, however small, but I'm finding it so hard for this training. I think that speaks volumes to Carrie's understanding of women who need yoga during one of the most vulnerable times of their lives. Thank you Carrie! You're amazing. I'm so grateful for everything I have learned and even more excited to be implementing it all next year.

Carrie, I loved the way you planned it out, the support & connection, your guidance & support. I loved the learning, the brainstorming and then actually attempting to implement a sequence was super beneficial even when it felt out of my comfort zone.

I knew I’d be learning with women who were already yoga teachers. Whilst I knew I had confidence with anatomy etc it was daunting to not have the yoga teacher training behind me. Thank you for creating such a safe sacred space to learn. I just loved every minute of it!

Carrie,

I can't thank you enough for your extremely thorough training course.

You placed a massive emphasis on safety, which I feel is so important when teaching pre and post-natal yoga. I am so excited to be able to share all that I've learnt from you.

Even though I had done prenatal yoga training before and I had a good basic understanding, I still felt like there were gaps in my knowledge.

I loved the face to face connection, the focus on safety,
the combination of learning through lectures, discussion and practice teaching was so helpful to fully absorb the knowledge; the structure of the course, the genuine care and support between all of the participants, feeling encouraged to ask ANYTHING. I never felt awkward to ask questions even if I felt like they may be really basic.

I'm incredibly grateful for your guidance and support. My passion for teaching pregnant women has been reignited and I now feel so much more confident to teach.

The focus on safety was incredible and I feel lucky to have been part of such an inspiring and informative training! Thank you. Thank you! I hope that you continue to spread your wisdom with future trainees. You are a gifted facilitator and you should be incredibly proud of the work you do and the Course you have created.

Thank you Carrie!

Your course was so well rounded and educational, with something for everyone including for professional development for birth workers or yoga teachers. I had no prior yoga teaching experience so my knowledge was very limited,
I loved practicing teaching and building confidence with a small group of supportive peers. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that I’m having better experiences in birth suite and I’m now teaching active birth classes at work which I never would have had the confidence to before.

Thanks Carrie - I loved immersing myself in this training and feel that teaching prenatal and postnatal yoga is incredibly important for birth preparation and recovery. The pregnancy yoga teaching was very well designed with theoretical content and then teacher practice. I loved the yoga classes and the encouragement and positivity surrounding the classes.

I am planning on offering these classes to a group of socially disadvantaged women who are being supported in housing by the Royal Women's Hospital. I believe this initiative will be hugely beneficial.

This training was transformational!

At first, I decided to enrol just to be able to adjust my own yoga practice when I'm pregnant. However, after finishing the training, I would like to serve and teach yoga to pregnant people as is such an empowering way of getting ready for labour and birth!

Before doing this training I feel I didn't know much about how to teach yoga to pregnant people. We learnt a little bit in our 200 hrs YTT but I must admit I would have freaked out if a pregnant individual appeared at my class! I probably would not be inclusive enough or I may have delivered a class that may have not been safe for them!

I loved that we learned how to teach in a safe way, to support parents during their pregnancy, labour and birth, how to become strong and flexible as well as how to modify yoga poses according to pregnancy discomforts or conditions. I really enjoyed learning about the different aspects of the postnatal period and how to teach a class in this regard. The training has so much content (anatomy, subtle anatomy, our role as teachers, etc) and a lot of practice which helped me a lot to build confidence when teaching. I highly recommend this course!
