About Carrie Jeff
|
I’m Carrie Jeff - founder of Joymamma, Prenatal Yoga Educator and Mentor.
My work today is focused on training and mentoring prenatal yoga teachers to work with confidence in the perinatal space. Through the Joymamma Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training and Graduate Mentorship Pathway, I support teachers to develop the knowledge required to guide pregnant and postnatal women safely and ethically. Joymamma is not built on trends or quick certification pathways. It is grounded in lived experience, long-term teaching practice and a deep respect for the physiological and emotional shifts of pregnancy, birth and early motherhood. Over many years, my work has involved teaching pregnancy and postnatal yoga, HypnoBirthing and and supporting women and their partners during labour and birth. This experience continues to inform how I mentor teachers today - shaping how I approach safety, language, pacing, nervous system awareness and the responsibility that comes with teaching in the perinatal space. |
While my role has evolved from teaching women directly to supporting teachers in their professional development, the heart of my work remains the same: integrity, responsibility and safety.

A Journey Rooted in Birth, Motherhood and Practice
My own journey through pregnancy, birth and motherhood began over 25 years ago. I am a mother of three and have personally experienced a range of birth pathways - including hospital birth with epidural, homebirth, waterbirth and HypnoBirthing. These experiences shaped not only my understanding of birth, but also my deep respect for the individuality of every woman’s journey.
My passion for teaching grew quietly and organically. In 2012, while my children were at school, I began holding prenatal yoga classes in my home - clearing the dining table, laying down mats and welcoming women into a simple, supportive space. As more women joined, Joymamma grew and over time expanded into studios, community spaces, birth support and teacher training.
Over the years, I have owned and operated two yoga studios on the Sunshine Coast and have been honoured to support women through pregnancy, birth and early motherhood - guiding them through ancient yogic practices while also supporting them within the realities of modern birth care.

Private HypnoBirthing Support (limited availability)
While my primary focus today is on training and mentoring prenatal yoga teachers, I continue to offer a limited number of private HypnoBirthing sessions for couples seeking personalised birth preparation support. I also offer HypnoBirthing refresher sessions for previous Joymamma students who would like to revisit the tools, rebuild confidence, or prepare for a subsequent birth.
These sessions are offered on an availability-based basis and are tailored to your individual needs, drawing on breath, relaxation, mindset tools and preparation for birth. If you’re interested in private or refresher HypnoBirthing support, please send me a message, I’ll respond soon to discuss availability.

Birth Work, Teaching and Holding Space
As a birth doula, I have had the privilege of accompanying women and couples into their birth spaces across a wide range of settings and experiences, including vaginal births, caesarean sections, VBACs, inductions, instrumental births, waterbirths and homebirths.
I have witnessed first-hand how yoga, breath awareness and mental preparation can support women to move through labour with strength, resilience and trust - even when birth unfolds differently than hoped.
While I no longer attend births as frequently as I once did, this work continues to shape how I teach, mentor and prepare others to support women through these pivotal life experiences.

Teaching Teachers & Passing on the Work
As lead trainer of the Joymamma Registered Prenatal Yoga School, I am deeply committed to supporting teachers to work from a place of safety. Graduates of the Joymamma Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training are guided to teach with integrity - understanding not only what to teach, but how to hold space with sensitivity and respect for each woman’s lived experience.
Legacy & Lineage
Joymamma has always been about more than classes or certificates.
What began in my own home has grown into a living lineage. The work is now carried forward by the dedicated teachers I mentor and the women they, in turn, support. This has expanded far beyond my original teaching spaces, reaching studios, communities, and birth spaces far and wide.

A Personal Note
Birth and motherhood are unpredictable. We may not have the experience we imagine, but when a woman is supported to stay present, grounded and connected to her breath and body, she can move through these transitions with confidence and resilience.
It is an honour to walk alongside women and teachers at these pivotal thresholds of life.
