Andy was just the best birth partner I could ever hope for. Our little son is so delightful and has bought us a love to our life that we never knew possible.
Sorry it's taken so long for me to write this, our little love has had all of our attention.
After attending your classes and practicing hypnobirthing techniques for weeks we felt excited, prepared and ready to meet our baby. He was 4 days overdue so I had been going to acupuncture and ended up having a stretch and sweep. Turns out I was already 3cm dilated and fully effaced!
We were so happy about that but then my Obstetrician let us know that he felt a structure which he believed to be placenta previa. We were told we needed to go for an urgent scan in the morning and if it was confirmed we were to have a caesarean is the next evening.
We were so disappointed but tried to shift our focus to this special circumstance. As soon as we went to bed that night I had a really strong surge, followed 10 min later by another strong one. I started timing them and realised that our Bub was ready to meet us. Hypnobirthing helped me stay calm and breathe through the surges despite knowing in the back of my mind I had a low lying placenta. It only took 2 hours for my surges to go from 10min to 3 and a half min apart so we headed into hospital.
I didn't have any bleeding so they were happy for me to get into the pool which helped so much. My surges were really intense and came very close to each other. I was in the transition phase for hours and he was in a posterior position so was getting lots of pain in my back. The shower worked the best for the back pain as well as Andy giving lots of counter pressure. I really believe hypnobirthing really helped me focus within and on our baby who ended up turning anterior while pushing!! He also slipped passed the placenta too In the end we ended up needing some Syntocinon and he was a vacuum assist for the last 2 surges as I was fatiguing and he was almost too big to fit through!
I managed to birth him without any pain relief so when he was born he was so alert, hardly cried and breastfed very soon after! Andy was just the best birth partner I could ever hope for. Our little son is so delightful and has bought us a love to our life that we never knew possible.
Thank you so much for the skills you have taught us, we are still using them everyday (and night!).
